Brooks Dexter, Managing Director, Duff & Phelps

Brooks Dexter is a Managing Director in the Santa Monica office and head of the Investment Banking Service Practice within the Investment Banking segment. He has 25 years of experience in advising clients in merger and acquisitions and in raising capital.

Brooks has closed more than 100 mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity transactions for clients in sectors, including consumer products, business services, industrials, semiconductors, oil services and distribution. Recent transactions include representing Clear One Health Plans in its pending sale to PacificSource Health Plans and also in its acquisition of TPSC (third party administrator); representing Channel Technologies, Inc. in the sale of Harris Acoustic Products to Ultra Electronics, Plc; representing Hydril Co in its $2.1 billion sale to Tenaris, SA; representing Peerless Injection Molding in its sale to Spell Capital; representing InfoLink Screening Services in its sale to Marsh McLennan; and representing BNP Paribas in its sale of AOTB to Kenwood Investments.

Prior to joining D&P, Brooks was a Senior Managing Director and head of investment banking at USBX Advisory Services, Inc. He was responsible for a building this 15-person boutique investment bank sold to Imperial Capital. Before joining USBX, Brooks was a Senior Investment Banker in the Los Angeles office of J.P. Morgan, where he was responsible for business development and transaction origination and execution. At J.P. Morgan, he completed private equity, high yield and high grade debt and strategic advisory transactions for a wide range of industrial companies in the Western United States, including semiconductor, automotive, forest products and energy services companies. Before J.P. Morgan, Brooks was a Managing Director with Lehman Brothers in Los Angeles. In his 13-year career with Lehman Brothers, Brooks advised clients in several industry sectors including consumer products, retailing, technology, energy, oil services, aerospace and transportation. Brooks began his career as a Financial Analyst with The First Boston Corporation in New York.

Brooks received his A.B. in business from the University of Chicago, his M.B.A. with concentration in finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He holds series 7, series 24 and series 63 securities industry registrations. Brooks is a former member of the board of directors of the Los Angeles Chapter for the Association for Corporate Growth, and a member of the Alumni Board of Governors of the University of Chicago.
