Vanessa C.L. Chang, Principal in EL & EL Investments

Ms. Chang is a Principal in EL & EL Investments, a real estate investment and corporate finance advisory business. She is an independent director of New Perspective Fund (ANWPX), EuroPacific Growth Fund (AEPGX), New World Fund (NEWFX), American Balanced Fund (ABALX), Income Fund of America (AMECX) and International Growth and Income Fund (IGAAX), members of the American Funds family, advised by Capital Research and Management Company. She serves as the Fundsí Audit Committee Chair, is the designated Audit Committee Financial Expert and is a member of the Contracts Committees.

Ms. Chang is a member of the Board of Directors for Edison International (NYSE:EIX), serves as Audit Committee Chair and a member of its Compensation Committee. She is also a member of Transocean Ltd.ís (NYSE:RIG and SIX:RIGN) Board of Directors, and their Audit and Finance & Benefits Committees.

As a member of the Board of Directors for Blue Shield of California, she serves as the Audit Committee Chair and member of the Compensation and Finance and Investment Committees. Ms. Chang also serves on the Board of Directors for Forest Lawn Memorial Parks Association and is a member of the Audit, Investment and Risk Management Committees.

Ms. Chang was a member of the Independent Directors Council and its Executive Committee, affiliated with the Investment Company Institute. She has testified on the role and responsibilities of independent directors before the Senate Banking Committee in March 2004. She has been a speaker at several industry conferences.

She was an independent director and Chair of the Compensation Committee for Inveresk Research Group, Inc. until its sale to Charles River Laboratories in October 2004. Ms. Chang was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of ResolveItNow, an online dispute resolution business serving property and casualty insurers. Prior to ResolveItNow, Ms. Chang was Senior Vice President at Secured Capital Corp, a real estate investment bank. Ms. Chang was with KPMG LLP for over 20 years and was partner in charge of its West Coast Corporate Finance Group.

Ms. Chang is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Friends of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. She was a member of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Audit Committee for Claremont Graduate University and past Chair of the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. Ms. Chang is a Certified Public Accountant and she received her B.A. Degree from the University of British Columbia.
