M. Christian Mitchell

Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, Marshall & Stevens


Mr. Mitchell serves as the vice chairman of the Board of Directors of Marshall & Stevens. He is a seasoned corporate board member and recognized leader in the governance community. Mr. Mitchell is a strategic advisor on governance, finance and capital issues optimizing expertise from thirty-five years as a leader in global professional services, corporate, government and not-for-profit organizations.

Mr. Mitchell is a director of Special Value Opportunities Fund LLC, an $850 million registered investment fund managed by Tennenbaum Capital Partners, LLC, Santa Monica; Reis, Inc. (NASDAQ: REIS), a New York-based real estate information company; Western Asset Mortgage Capital Corporation (NYSE:WMC), a mortgage REIT sponsored and managed by Pasadena-based Western Asset Management Company; and Grandpont Capital, a private equity sponsored Los Angeles-based bank holding company with $2.4 billion in assets by 2013. Mr. Mitchell is the chairman of the board for Reis. He chairs the Audit Committees of all four firms and is a member of other committees including Transaction, Compensation, and Nominating and Corporate Governance committees. He is formerly a director of two multi-billion dollar bank holding companies (one public and one private-equity sponsored) and an advisory board member of a multi-billion dollar fund of funds hedge fund.

Mr. Mitchell retired from Deloitte in 2003 as the National Man- aging Partner of the Mortgage Banking and Finance Companies practice. During his 26-year career at Deloitte he also served as Regional Managing Partner for various practices including audit, enterprise risk services, and financial services. Mr. Mitchell also served as the Associate National Managing Partner for the Banking and Thrift practice and as a partner in the mergers and acquisitions and capital markets practice.

In addition, Mr. Mitchell served as an Accounting Fellow to the Federal Home Loan Board in Washington, D.C. from 1985 to 1987. Mr. Mitchell has served as an adjunct professor of accounting and is currently a guest lecturer at the University of Redlands. In addition, Mr. Mitchell is the Chairman and President of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), Southern California chapter and for 2012 designated a NACD Board Leadership Fellow. He was named to the “100 Most Influential People in Corporate Governance” list by Directorship magazine in 2011 and 2012.

Mr. Mitchell is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama.
